Favourite scene I wrote

INT. APARTMENT – BEDROOM – NIGHT
Iosif lies on the bed. Vera takes off her blouse and opens the wardrobe. Iosif looks at her naked back as the girl puts on a T-shirt. She takes off her pants and stays like that. She jumps into bed next to him and pulls the blanket on top of both of them. She turns her back on him and he takes her into his arms.
          VERA
Did you like the ‘ghilimoatze’?
          IOSIF
The what?
          VERA
The ‘ghilimoatze’. Those things I
brought yesterday. That’s what I
call them.
Vera stretches and presses her butt against him.
          IOSIF
The clove flavored cookies?
          VERA
Yes.
          IOSIF
Sure, they were ok…
          VERA
But?
          IOSIF
My mother used to make them when I
was a boy. Hers were better, she
put honey in them. But I liked
yours, too.
Vera puts some distance between them. Iosif pulls her towards him, but she pushes his hand aside.
          IOSIF
Don’t be like that. You asked, I
answered.
          VERA
You’re right. You know? I still
don’t think I got it. How does this
help you?
Iosif gets closer to her and puts his head on her shoulder. He takes her hand between his palms and squeezes it gently.
          IOSIF
I don’t know, it just does. It was
just an idea. But I see it’s
working. I didn’t expect that.
          VERA
Even when I’m snoring?
          IOSIF
     (laughing)
No.
Iosif looks at her. He leans in and rubs his nose onto hers.
          VERA
What was that?
          IOSIF
My nose.
Vera laughs.
          VERA
Kiss me!
          IOSIF
I can’t.
Vera is disappointed. Iosif gets up. He pushes the blanket
away, revealing Vera’s legs.
          IOSIF
I believe I owe you a massage.
Iosif rubs her feet gently.
          IOSIF
Not talking anymore?
          VERA
I feel like I talk too much. I’m
always complaining and I’m not
usually like this. But keep on
doing what you’re doing, it feels
good.
Iosif focuses on her left leg with both of his hands.
          IOSIF
Did you know they say a man’s soul
lies in his heel?
          VERA
I’ve never heard anything like
that.
          IOSIF
Really. Think about it. Any
creature that has feet has a soul.
He massages her thigh. Vera likes it.
          VERA
Then the snail has the biggest
soul. He’s only a foot. Higher.
          IOSIF
I don’t know. It’s just the body-to-soul
ratio that’s big.
Iosif massages the inside of her thigh. Vera bites her lips and closes her eyes.
          VERA
It’s not size that matters. By the
way, did you hear that kangaroos
have two of them?
          IOSIF
Souls?
          VERA
No. Nevermind.
Vera moves his hand aside and points toward her other leg. Iosif switches sides with her and starts working on the right foot.
          VERA
I was thinking. Tomorrow I have
some free time and I’ll be in the
neighbourhood. Wanna have lunch?
Iosif doesn’t answer. He’s focused on the massage and watches his hands slide along Vera’s leg. He rubs her left shin and ends up at her thighs, a lot faster than with her other leg.
          VERA
I mean, I hope you didn’t
misunderstand me. I just don’t want
to eat by myself.
          IOSIF
Yeah.
          VERA
Yeah?
          IOSIF
I can’t.
Vera stops his hand.
          VERA
Don’t flatter yourself. You’re not
the man for me. You’re not even ok,
but for now, for what I need you’re
incredible. Wouldn’t it be good for
you to have someone to talk to?
Iosif stares directly into her eyes.
          IOSIF
I’d rather we left things like
this.
Iosif rests his head on her chest. His head goes up and down as she’s breathing.

My favourite film quote

“”Hi, everyone. I’m Olaf and I like warm hugs!”
